But, the wonderful thing about failure is that it&#8217;s entirely up to us to decide how to look at it.<br \/><br \/>We can choose to see failure as &#8220;the end of the world,&#8221; or as proof of just how inadequate we are. Or, we can look at failure as the incredible learning experience that it often is. Every time we fail at something, we can choose to look for the lesson we&#8217;re meant to learn. These lessons are very important; they&#8217;re how we grow, and how we keep from making that same mistake again. Failures stop us only if we let them.<br \/><br \/>Fear of failure also known as <strong><em>atychiphobia.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Phobias are irrational fears\u00a0related to specific objects or situations. If you experience atychiphobia, you have an irrational and persistent fear of failure.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/psychologistvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Screenshot-2024-05-08-at-12.41.19.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12928 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/psychologistvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Screenshot-2024-05-08-at-12.41.19.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>Fear of Failure causes them to unconsciously sabotage their chances of success, in a variety of ways. Fear of failure can elicit feelings such as disappointment, anger, frustration, sadness, and regret. A fear of failure is essentially a fear of shame.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Symptoms of Atychiphobia:<\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p><strong><br \/><\/strong>Not everyone will experience fear in the same way. The severity runs along a spectrum from mild to extreme. Phobias like atychiphobia can be so extreme that they completely paralyze you, making it difficult to carry on with your tasks at home, school, or work. You may even miss out on important opportunities in your life, both personally and professionally.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Examples of Physical symptoms<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p><br \/>&#8211; Lack of Energy, lack of focus.<br \/>&#8211; Unusually fast heart rate, pain in your chest, shaking, dizziness or lightheadedness.<br \/>&#8211; Digestive Distress.<br \/>&#8211; Overthinking<br \/>&#8211;\u00a0Hot or Cold Flashes.<br \/>&#8211; Insomnia (sleep problems). Especially for a test.<br \/>&#8211; Sweating. Especially for a presentation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Examples of Emotional symptoms<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Constantly an intense overwhelming feeling.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Feeling like you\u2019ve lost control over a situation.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Generally feeling powerless over your fear signs that you are having.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Once you fail at something, you have trouble imagining what you could have done differently to succeed.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; You tend to tell people beforehand that you don\u2019t expect to succeed in order to lower their expectations.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Feeling shy<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Low self esteem<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Lie, make excuses<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What causes fair of failure:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Lack of confidence<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Those with low self-confidence will believe in perfectionism. They think that unless they succeed in the task at hand, they will be a failure. Although they fail, <strong>they are not a failure<\/strong>, most of us know that, but, to them, this is just a fact.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Perfectionism<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Those who fear failure often believe that they and the things they are interested in are supposed to be perfect. The truth is,\u00a0<strong>nothing is entirely perfect<\/strong>\u00a0no matter how hard you try to be successful in your endeavors.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Personalization<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Some people\u00a0see failure\u00a0as a testament to who they are. When they fail to complete a task in the right way or in perfect timing, they see fault in themselves. These individuals<strong>\u00a0truly do not feel good enough<\/strong>\u00a0about themselves to attempt a new task or take any risks.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The perfectionism of others<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Although some of us are\u00a0victims of perfectionism\u00a0in our personalities, there are others who\u00a0impose their perfectionism on us\u00a0too. Some people expect us to be perfect and so we work hard to meet these expectations. This can happen so much that we do feel that we are doomed to fail.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Childhood issues<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Maybe you are always afraid that if you fail, there will be punishments from parents. You even brace yourself for the fail long before you actually know the outcome.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Taking a closer look at childhood issues\u00a0<strong>presents us with patterns<\/strong>. The first punishment was probably shocking to the child, but after a while, it became a normal part of life. As an adult, fear became a normal part of life as well.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Advice for parents:<br \/><\/strong>Change your attitude about failing. Stay always positive.\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Emphasize effort, Not ability.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Demonstrate unconditional love.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Conduct the \u201cWorst-Case Scenario\u201d exercise.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Help them focus on the solution. <\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have conversations about success and failure.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Definition of Failure It&#8217;s almost impossible to go through life without experiencing some kind of failure.
