It occurs when someone or something you love is taken away. You may feel shock, anger, guilt, or profound sadness. Grief can also affect physical health, making it hard to sleep, eat, or think clearly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grief is not limited to death. It can be triggered by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divorce or breakup<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loss of health, job, or financial stability<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miscarriage, retirement, death of a pet<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serious illness of a loved one, loss of friendship<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even subtle changes, like moving, graduating, or changing jobs, can trigger grief.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Grieving Process<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grieving is highly individual and takes time\u2014weeks, months, or even years. Patience is key.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The 5 Stages of Grief:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Denial:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cThis can\u2019t be happening to me.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Anger:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cWhy is this happening? Who is to blame?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Bargaining:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cIf this doesn\u2019t happen, I will ____.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Depression:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cI\u2019m too sad to do anything.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Acceptance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cI\u2019m at peace with what happened.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Physical symptoms:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fatigue, nausea, weakened immunity, weight changes, aches, insomnia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Coping with Grief<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acknowledge your pain and emotions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take care of yourself physically and emotionally.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seek support from friends, family, or support groups.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Express feelings through creativity, journaling, or hobbies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognize the difference between grief and depression.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Should you use antidepressants?<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Normal grief generally does not require medication.
